Chaddlewood Miners 2    Railway Beacon 3

Railway Beacon finished off there season with a gusty performance against a top Chaddlewood team to claim the Runners up spot and gain promotion to next league up. Chaddlewood started the better of the two teams and took the lead after 25 mins when their forward chipped the ball over Railway keeper Tyler Lyon to go 1 0 up. Chaddlewood continued to cause Beacon lots of problems as they used the channels well. Beacon eventually responded on the stroke of half time Josh Jarvis ran clear of the Chaddlewood defence to slot home the equaliser to make it 1 - 1 at half time.

The second half started with both teams attacking well and both keepers very busy as shots rained in on them both. Chaddlewood then took a 2 1 lead when there striker ran clear of a static beacon defence to chip over sub keeper Owen King. Chaddlewood then looked to tighten up at the back and secure the win. But Beacon's Connor Johnson fired Railway level with his 11 th of the season. With a draw looking likely  keeper Tyler Lyon replaced Owen King after he sustained an injury keeping  Beacon in the game. With five minutes left a determined Josh Jarvis ran the whole length of the pitch and fired the winning goal pass the Chaddlewood keeper to give Railway the points. With the final whistle the celebrations started with Beacon  securing the runners up spot and gaining promotion to the next level. They now have to wait for other league results to pan out with still a slight chance of winning the league.

The start of the second half saw Railway wake up and on form striker Adrian Ignac fired home a great equaliser. With football hard to play in the windy cold conditions it was a credit to both teams for trying to play on the floor football. Railway then took the lead half way in to second half when a corner by Jake foster was touched on by Josh Jarvis for Jamie Goucher to head in for Beacon’s second goal .

Manstow then replied when they attacked down the left with there striker scored after a second attempt at goal after Tyler Lyon saved his first effort to make the scores level again at 2. 2 . Headline:-  Railway Steam on in County Cup after great win against Braunton Wanderers

Braunton started brightly with fast and furious football with railway defending well to keep them at bay. However 20 mins in a superb through ball from Brodie Notman found Josh Jarvis who calmly slotted home from 15 yards. Railway came more into the game after that goal and the Braunton keeper did well keeping out shots from Jamie Goucher and Jake Foster.  A  second goal for Beacon came when Josh Jarvis seized on a mistake by the Braunton defence to calmly slot home his second to give beacon a 2 0 half time lead.

The second half as you would expect began with heavy Braunton pressure again but Railway stood firm. With 15 minutes to go Braunton were awarded a penalty which the  Beacon keeper Owen King saved. But the referee decided the penalty had to be retaken because a group of Beacon players had tried to put off the penalty taker by coughing meaning a retake which they scored from to make score 2 1. Railway then put the game beyond Braunton when Adrian Ignac ran clear down the wing and scored with a volley from a tight angle to make it final score 3-1.

In Wet and windy conditions at Devonport Park Railway Beacon and YMCA  Hawks served up a brilliant game of football. Railway started faster out of the blocks and scored when Josh Jarvis fired home from 25 yards. With both sides matching each other for effort it was pretty even right up to half time but YMCA deservedly equalised with a close range effort just before the half time whistle. The start of the second half was all YMCA until the Beacon coach made a number of substitutions  to changed the system. That however still didn't stop YMCA going  ahead 1-2  with a from a brilliant 30 yard finish. Railway eventually responded and upped the effort and were rewarded when a 35 yard screamer from Jamie Goucher put Beacon level. Super sub Jake Foster then came off the bench and scored with his second touch and then soon added a second, Railway’s fourth as he forced in a loose ball over the line.

Beacons first match on the New Year resulted with them taking the play to Torpoint in the opening ten minutes but they were caught lacking when Torpoint opened the scoring with a fine counter attack. Beacon then drew level almost immediately when Hunt nodded home from a tight angle following a fine corner from Marley Richards. Beacon continued to take the play to Torpoint with George Beckett in midfield masterful and they deservedly went into the lead after a fine dribbling run from wing back Declan Nisbet who scored with a terrific bullet volley from outside the penalty area.

Undaunted Torpoint drew level with a repeat counter attack of their opening goal. With pressure mounting Beacon went back into the lead before the break with a own goal after a wicked defensive deflection which sent the ball wide of the keeper.

After the break it was Torpont who applied a lot of pressure keeping the ball the Beacon half and against play it was Beacon who scored from a counter attack with the ever dangerous Richards scoring following a great through ball from Hunt.

Torpoint continued to apply pressure and they almost got a goal back when the Beacon keeper Mateusz Kloczko palmed a stinging shot against the cross bar with the defence following it up and clearing it to safety. With ten minutes remaining Torpoint continued to try find a way back but found the Beacon defence resilient in a game that was well refereed by Andy Rodgers

Modbury Rangers 1 V Railway Beacon Youth FC 2

In a very well matched game Modbury started well and took command of the game with plenty of possession with out creating too many chances. Beacon slowly got themselves into the game but neither team was capable of breaking the deadlock before half time. Beacon started the second half with a little more conviction than the first half and dominated possession for a time. Modbury responded and fought there way back into the match with the play flowing from end to end.

With both teams searching for the opening goal, it finally came with about 15 minutes to go following a Beacon corner which resulted in a goal mouth scramble giving Ryan Chenneour the chance to stab the ball home to put Beacon ahead. Modbury responded immediately and took the game to Beacon and scored a deserved equaliser with 5 minutes to go. With both teams seemingly settling for a point with time ticking away Jake Anderson ran into the Rangers area and calmly slotted the ball home for the winner goal.

Overall it was a little harsh on Modbury who deserved at least a draw from the game.

Beacon were quickly out of the blocks in this game going 2-0 up in the first 10 minutes thanks to goals from Scott Hawes and Jack Langford. Beacon then began to dominate the first half with Manstow only managing to break into the Beacons half a handful of times. Another goal from Jack Langford and one from Ryan Chenneour made it 4-0 at half time. With a depleted squad due to Injury and other commitments the eleven available Beacon players put up a mammoth effort against a strong Ivybridge side and were extremely unlucky not to take all the points when a controversial decision in the last few minutes deigned them a heroic victory after the referee awarded a goal and then reversed his decision penalising striker Marley Richards who had run from his own half when the ball was originally passed.

With some players playing in unfamilar position's Beacon took the lead after a determined effort by JacK Longbone heading the ball over the keeper who had parried his first two efforts.

Ivybridge equalised almost immediately to equal the scores. With all the Beacon players giving their all they went into the break in the lead when Jack Longbone buried his second after some great individual Play despite Beacon being reduced to ten men when James Hornibrook was carried off with a injured ankle.

Minutes ticked by and we waited expectantly for the Referee to arrive, so a prolonged warm up session watching the teams run through their exercises. When the game finally commenced Signal Box proved to be fast, organised and difficult to contain and it was nearly half way through the first half before Beacon had a decent attempt on goal. Matt Smith, Wesley Massey, Stan and Toby Marks combined to keep out a couple of SB corners and Reuben Hearn, Callum Marr and Diego eventually got a ball through for Jake Tucker to score in the seventeenth minute. A good spell followed for Beacon passing thoughtful balls through with Tom Massey and Urban Christie both having shots. The second goal, again for Jake, came from a Toby throw in with Reuben and Diego playing their part. By half time, Beacon were three goals in front, gaining confidence by the minute using the width of the pitch and playing great football.

Second half saw a change of personnel. Liam Mcgahan, Cameron Spear and Urban up front were given plenty of instruction from Captain Wes. The visiting team struggled to get out of their own goal area but when they did, they struck lucky, were given a penalty and got themselves on the score sheet. The rest of the game became a scrappy affair and when Jake came back on following a period off the field he added another two to his remarkable tally. Another smashing team performance, well done fellas.

Welcome back to Stan

Despite the prolonged weather induced hiatus from competitive games, Beacon started where they left off with competent passing and an opening goal in the first few minutes. After about twenty minutes however, the boys nodded off for a split second and Horrabridge equalised but woke up just in time for Jake to claim his second. The visitors relied heavily on getting the ball to their nippy number 4 who sneaked in to equalise but they struggled to contain the RB attacking force spearheaded by Jake he knocked in fantastically delivered free kick.

Another excellent start after the half-time break as Horrabridge failed to clear a corner and Jake didn't miss the opportunity to claim another. Beacon didn't have it all their own way and there were many hairy moments as Horrabridge had more than a few chances on goal that they failed to capitalise on. The inimitable JT claimed a quintet of goals but was well supplied with crosses from the Magic Mid-fielders and Fantastic Forwards not forgetting the Indispensable Defenders. Still unbeaten and back to a full strength squad as we welcome back Stan and Diego to the fold. Great work chaps, more of the same please....

As their relative positions at the top of the League would indicate, this became an exciting game between two evenly matched sides who obviously enjoy playing good old fashioned football. Beacon edged in front as Jake Tucker took off on one of his trademark runs to send the ball over the keeper into the top of the net but Chaddlewood soon equalised and so it continued when the visitors got ahead again to be caught by a further Chaddie goal. As half time beckoned the home team were on top, but not for long!

RB came out fighting, Jake claimed another couple of goals and with calls of disdain from the Beacon Manager the referee awarded Chaddlewood a penalty which was confidently taken. The vocal encouragements from both sets of supporters escalated as players pressed forward, battled extensively and provided excellent lively football. Plenty of attempts on goal from the Beacon forwards and finally Kyle Bryce was rewarded with a brace of goals joining Jake on the scoresheet.

Railway Beacon Youth 3 Tamerton Foliot FC 2

Tucker 2, T. Massey

With Tamerton out for revenge after last weeks defeat, both teams started with plenty of forward passing and both keepers had shots to save but Beacon were rewarded first as Jake Tucker skilfully got himself past the keeper to hit home inside the left post. Tamerton barely made it out of their own half and the persistent pressure paid off as Tom Massey got a well deserved goal. A corner for Tamerton thwarted by the header of Matt Smith to Tucker who took off like a rocket down the length of the right side of the pitch but Cameron Spear couldn't quite connect to the cross and the ball sailed wide. Harry Stevens battled hard in midfield and won a free kick after being shoulder barged out of the way but Wesley Massey’s shot was efficiently cleared and for a few minutes he visitors woke up and would have scored but for a great save by goalie Liam Hazzard. The rest of the first half was an even affair.

Three minutes into the second half and the visitors scored however Beacon unperturbed pushed forward from the kick off and Robbie Milne, Stevens and Tucker battled in front of the goal with Tucker the victor. For a while, Tamerton could do nothing to get past Lewis Brown, Urban Christie, Smith, Wesley Massey and Callum Marr. Kyle Bryce and Liam Mcgahan at the other end challenged hard but couldn't get a cross goal-ward. For the last fifteen minutes Hazzard was the busier of the Number Ones and though Tamerton did get a goal back it was Hazzards diving save and general quick thinking that meant that Beacon reached the final whistle the victors.

                                              J.Tucker 5, W. Massey

The first thing you notice about the Callington team is the height of their Captain and Goalkeeper with both towering over even the Referee. The pitch steeply sloping and Beacon playing the first half uphill didn't deter the attacking players and Jake Tucker, Kyle Bryce and Harry Stevens all had attempts on goal early doors. The Colts Captain, from a free kick near the half way line, curled the ball over the wall and the reds went ahead however not for long as Tucker struck in a beauty and should have had another after doing all the hard work fooling the defence only to send the wall the wrong side of the post. Both teams pressing ahead chances on both sides but it was Callington next to score.

The weather turned and in the driving rain Callington seemed to take charge in the second half scoring to go two ahead. All credit to Beacon who kept their heads and with constant encouragement from Captain Wesley Massey had battled hard for Tucker to get forward and nullify that goal. A fantastically exciting period of play followed. Urban Christie took a shot but yet again it was Tucker that Callington couldn't contain as he equalised for Beacon and then put them ahead. Supporters on both sides on tenterhooks and the home side went ahead yet again and with the minutes ticking by and great vocal cheer from the Beaconites on the sideline, the unstoppable Tucker claimed another. It fell to Skipper Massey to get the last with exuberant celebration.

A wonderful display of grit and determination with a truly whole team effort to never stop striving for a positive result. Great work all.

First game of the season after a mixed bag of results in the preceding friendlies and despite the rain, Beacon made an excellent start passing efficiently from mid-field for Jake Tucker to be first on the score sheet to the delight of the home crowd. Taking control of the game, Beacon kept possession well and Tom Massey soon nipped in to score his first of the season. The first serious threat from the visitors hit the cross-bar but they persisted for a spell and sneaked a goal back but this was their only real attempt and the rest of the game saw Beacon growing in confidence. Tucker slid past the goalkeeper score inside the left post and Urban Christie, not to be left out, decided it was his turn. A disastrous mistake by the Staddiscombe keeper on the stroke of half time let Tucker in again and after the whistle was blown the manager had a buoyant team on his hands as drinks were taken.

The second half went all Beacons' way. Callum Marr had a good shot saved and the only goal of the half came from Wesley Massey.

A fantastic positive start, with lots of enthusiasm and optimism for the coming season.

Tamerton 2 Railway Beacon 4

                    Bryce, Tucker, Milne, McGahan

This time in the sunshine Railway Beacon gathered to face Tamerton and, after last week's win, hope was high for another good game. Beacon made a lively start but a mix-up in mid field when the referee didn't blow for what the players and crowd thought was an offside player. The defenders stood still and waited for the referee to blow as the Tamerton player ran forward unopposed, knocking the ball into an open net. The ref gave the goal despite the howls of protest and the home side took an early lead.

Beacon maintained the run of play and it wasn't long before Kyle Bryce fooled the Tamerton keeper, who came well out of his goal area and Bryce made safe his shot. The visitors kept up the pressure and soon Jake Tucker put the visitors ahead. Tom Massey thought he was on for a chance, but this time the referee did decide it was offside. Being kept well supplied by passes from the mid- field players, Tucker got forward and did all the hard work by luring out the keeper but put his head in his hands as he watched his shot sail over the crossbar. The last minutes of the half were a tense affair as both teams won corners but at half time, Beacon were once again on top.

The second half was a more end to end affair and it was Beacon who came out on top as Reuben Hearn sent in a lovely ball for a waiting Robbie Milne to hit home. Tamerton kept on the pressure and scored to edge towards an equaliser, followed by a free kick sent sailing over the Beacon wall but safely collected by keeper Liam Hazzard. Keeping up the pressure, Callum Marr sent a great ball in for a delighted Liam McGahan to knock in his first of the season. As the seconds ticked by, the visiting crowd held their collective breaths as Harry Stevens stepped up to take a penalty. The initial strike was saved and the rebound nearly crossed the line but at full time the score line recorded a second win for Railway Beacon.

Beacon continued in second half to thwart Looe, and despite conceeding a further 2 goals were rewarded for their efforts with a consolation goal from Joe Broad with 2 minutes remaining. Man of the Match for Looe was Joe Marsh

Following a heavy defeat earlier in the season Railway Beacon shook Saltash Youth by taking an early lead when Kevin Kasprzak and Marley Richards combined together well with Richards slotting the ball home.
